Technology has made life easy for human beings for God knows how many ages. The modern day man will face some serious problems without the use of these electronic devices as they have become a necessity in our day to day life. Countries like Japan and the US have been accredited with the title of developed economies as a result of the development in the technological and electronic fields. No discourse on the valuable services provided by these electronic units can be possible without referring to the world of computers.
Computers, which were invented by Charles Babbage in the twentieth century, have played an incomparable role in revolutionising the different spheres of the world over a span of thirty years. Scientific worlds of medicine, technology, astronomy, even government sectors like defence have hugely benefited due to the inclusion of computers. The precision and effortlessness that computers provide has made it a basic requirement in all professions in today's fast paced world that doesn't allow any room for errors. Internet facilities provided on the computer has helped in maintaining a connection amongst countries irrespective of their location.
However it must be remembered that these electronic equipment that appear to be saviours of the society can also prove to be harmful if not applied in proper means. Similarly, computers too have a negative aspect to it which is enshrouded by its utility levels. One of the main threats that computers pose is the problem of old computer disposal. Just like any other electronic product, improper and careless obsolete computer disposal will only add to the already increasing pollution levels of the world that is posing serious threats to the ecological balance. The entire world is sceptical about its future due to the present state of pollution which is evident from the dangerous process of global warming. Since we are already placed at such a precarious juncture, we cannot afford to jeopardise our future by adding another stream of pollution in the form of improper and unethical disposal of old computers.
E-waste disposal related problems can be a severe and widespread phenomenon. The most commonly seen forms of pollution caused by these wonder machines are the improper disposal of old computers. However people and Governing bodies of the world have woken up to the issue of e-waste disposal. Many Non-profit organisations have been setup that concentrate old computers they can use or resell. However these organisations are not interested in accepting totally unusable machines which comes up as the chief source of computer related pollutions. Thankfully Government of many countries have published laws that prohibit dumping of old computers. The only ray of hope therefore are the recycling centres that accepts old, defective computer parts without demanding any kind of service charges and take care of the entire process of disposal of old computers. Additionally, with the growth of new age technology that do not require usage of lead and other such chemical entities, future computers will not be associated with the grave dangers of old computer disposal problem. However till the time we have the new age computers, we will require using all our efforts to minimize the menace of obsolete computer disposal. If you do not recycle old computers, then you are just exacerbating the problem. We must recycle old computer monitors and parts to become part of the solution!
